Description of the Microsoft server applications that are supported on Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 is the next generation of the Windows Server operating system. Windows Server 2008 provides significant improvements over Windows Server 2003. Important improvements include the following:
Networking
Advanced security features
Remote application access
Centralized server role management
Performance and reliability monitoring tools
Failover clustering
Deployment
File system
Because of these improvements to the base operating system, backward compatibility of all applications is not guaranteed.

Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2

Note Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 R2 is supported as a second server on the domain. All the usual limitations on Small Business Server 2003 R2 still apply. The Small Business Server must be a domain container, and it must retain all the Active Directory FSMO roles.
